One day in London

Updated: Aug 18, 2024

On my first full day in London was raining all day, so I dedicated half of my day to museums and the other half of the day to walking outside. I went from the apartment at 8 am and came back at 7 pm. I lived in the Pimlico district, so my trip began from Pimlico. Despite of rain, I walked all day on foot and only came back to the apartment by bus.

Streets

Almost all the streets and buildings in London are beautiful, at least I did not see/find some streets I did not like. The architecture of London inspires me and gives me strength, power, and ideas to create. I can walk numerous hours from street to street contemplating the gorgeous style and true English beauty.

Besides Kensington district, I did not search for any other particular district. I chose Kensington only for that reason I saw a lot of beautiful photos on Instagram and I would like to walk there. All other districts and areas like the district with Embassies, Brompton area, Knightsbridge district, Campden district, and Albertopolis area appeared occasionally because Google Maps chose such a route to the Natural History Museum and Kensington from the apartment. But I was lucky as I walked to the most beautiful, prestigious, popular, and expensive areas in London.

London Oratory

I did not plan to go to the London Oratory, Catholic Church, I even did not hear about it. But it was raining I was passing by it to my first destination National History Museum. I saw that a lot of people were coming in and out. So I decided to go there. As it was early there was a sermon and everybody could enter for free. So, I prayed silently and then listened to the sermon. It was my first experience with the British Church / Cathedral with the holy sermon.

Parks and Gardens

Parks and Gardens in London fascinate and inspire me. There are a lot of them everywhere and a person can find his/her sanctuary in a small and cozy place, not only at well-known and popular Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens. This time these two parks were in rainy weather, as I had no other chance. But you know what? I like London so much that even rain could not make it worse or influence negatively on my mood. Moreover, I revealed that London in the rain had its magic and beauty.

Museums

National History Museum

It was my dream to go there and to visit the famous main hall with dinosaur skeletons.

There were a lot of people, literally, I felt like in a tube or at a train station during rush hour. But it was worth it. The museum is huge and impressive. If you are in London, find time to go there with kids if you have or without if you do not have as I do, but recommend visiting. The building itself is gorgeous and monumental.

Victoria and Albert Museum

I was stunned and amazed by the museum scales and area, the number of masterpieces, and their greatness.

Science Museum

This museum was not on my list to visit during the trip, but as it was raining and it was very close to the Natural History Museum and Victoria and Albert Museum I decided to come.

And I liked it. I have never been to such museums and have never seen or experienced something similar to it. This museum as it is officially written on the museum’s website will truly ignite your curiosity, encourage scientific endevearour, and spark your imagination. The most eye-catching and powerful in my opinion is an exhibition called “Who am I?”. It is dedicated to experience and understanding who you are. Very creative, forward-thinking, and practical.

EL&N London

EL&N London @elan_cafe is the world’s most Instagrammable café with a variety of delicious desserts and cookies as well as a big assortment of tea, coffee, and other hot and cold drinks. The famous café began its journey in the heart of London in 2017.

EL&N London elevates the coffee and dessert culture, now having 35 cafes and being presented in Milan, Paris, Dubai, and Kuala Lumpur.

I had not heard about them before, they were not on my list, I was just going to the Natural History Museum, but suddenly I stopped and stared at their showcase for 10 or 15 minutes. I was seduced by the desserts on that showcase, I felt like if I did not come in and try one of them I would lose consciousness.

I am a fan of cheesecakes and that was the best ever cheesecake I tried before.

Recommend to visit at least once in your life.
