What does Easter mean to me?

Updated: Aug 19, 2024

It happened so in our society (in this case, I mean Ukrainian society), that for the vast majority of people, Easter is a tradition, in other words, a ritual with a list of to-do's that must be fulfilled to be proper citizens and a faith (belief) person. This is a holiday when people bake or buy ready-made Easter cakes (paska), make Easter eggs (krashanky), go to church to consecrate these Easter cakes and Easter eggs, and before that, if a person is very religious, then it is necessary to fast. This whole list always caused endless monologues in my head with questions without answers. Understand correctly - I am not against traditions and rituals, I respect and value them. The problem is that rituals have nothing to do with the inner essence and faith of a person.

What does Easter mean to me?

A person can make fasting sticking 100% to all restrictions in the list, but still be angry, shout at others, use obscene words, criticize, envy, judge others, and do many destructive things towards himself/herself, others, and the environment. A person can go to church not only on holidays, but in general every Sunday with the conviction that he/she is a believer, but at the same time, in fact, with a complete lack of true faith in his/her heart. A person can kiss all the icons in the temples, kneel and pray for a long time, and make Easter eggs and cakes, but at the same time treat this process as a tradition, because it must be done by everyone in such a manner, without ever asking himself/herself additional questions "Why exactly I am doing this? For what purpose?". If you change the attributes, then instead of Christianity and our rituals, there can be any religion with all their rituals and traditions. To do, because it is necessary to do, at the same time after the "purification", i.e. after Easter, to continue doing all the things that a person did before and without changing himself/herself inside in any way - this is about manipulation and traditions for the sake of demonstrative traditions, and not about faith in the heart and true purification.

I am a Christian who followed all the traditions that my family passed down from generation to generation, and that everyone in my ambiance did and continues to do. But I got to the point where my questions became so loud that I started looking for answers firstly outside and then inside. The topic of religion and faith in our society is not just "closed" and "untouchable", it is very triggering and explosive, you can't talk about it out loud, because you will be judged, harassed, labeled...

For me, Easter is not "about Easter eggs, Easter cakes, fasting and going to church", it's about real purification and inner transformation. I can be anywhere, I can even not bake or eat Easter cake, not go to church (because my temple is inside me and it is always with me), not make fasting (because my daily diet for the last four years can be perceived for 80% of the Earth's population already as fasting), but I will always during this period pay even more attention to my inner essence, my Soul, observe my reactions and emotions, thoughts and actions, and will try to remove from myself "other people's robes" (ego masks) that stuck to me so strongly that "some have to be peeled off along with my skin".

For me, this holiday is about the fact that Christ died for humanity to change and raise the level of consciousness. Because the evolution of the Soul is the most important mission of every person on the planet Earth. And this our evolution is a gift for him and the Creator, and not rituals that the vast majority of people do automatically.

Fasting before Easter in our society is mainly about food, alcohol, and sex. And then on the day of the Easter holiday, eating everything until the liver hurts, while continuing negative and non-stop thoughts in your head all the time and a destructive lifestyle based on a selfish approach or better to say egoic, and again it is about manipulation, the games humanity plays and the masks we all wear but not about real purification and faith.

Easter and everything related to religious holidays from any religion is primarily about:
  • Purity of thoughts and intentions.

  • Clarity of consciousness and increased vibrations.

  • Limiting or completely reducing to zero any addictions (sugar, alcohol, sex, television, social networks, perfectionism, food, gambling, sports - anything that specifically causes addiction in you).

  • Freedom, which appears only when a person voluntarily comes out of suffering and refocuses his/her attention from "they are to blame", everything that comes outside (people, government, society, work, etc.) on himself/herself and completely takes responsibility for his/her life.

  • Reorientation from the small limited self "Give me, my, more, I want, I need, I want even more" to the Higher Self "What can I do for humanity and society? What will I leave behind me in this life for future generations?".

Of course, some people will hang a label on me, because it is so used in our Ukrainian community/society, and will say that I am not correct, not a believer, and not even a pure Christian at all. But in fact when I became so incomprehensible to the majority I got at least a little closer to true myself, and my Soul, and felt that the true faith that every person should have regardless of religion and going to a church, temple, mosque, synagogue, cathedral, etc., is inside us and no one can take it from us or add it to us, we can reveal it only by ourselves, nurturing it step by step every day.

Happy Easter to everyone!!! The holiday of purification and transformation of the Soul!!!
